摘要: A sociolinguistic analysis of English loan words in use the 1990s discourse young Japanese people is presented. The study drew data from a 1993 survey undergraduate students at two Osaka (Japan) higher education institutions, one for men and women, which asked what loanwords used heard often. report first discusses formation phonetic semantic aspects words, then analyzes survey's results. Findings show that most common were nouns, with only few verbs adjectives found. Categories distribution differed by institution, therefore gender group. Many coined are constructed English. Loan generally adopted even when there equivalent, apparently need to distinguish between functions words. males Students reported hearing fewer than they using, largest category referred social phenomena. Not many commonly found commercial films, magazines, books appeared students' usage. Possible reasons adoption considered briefly. Contains 19 references.
