摘要: ABSTRACT: As a result of the economic, political and cultural influence Britain US, emergence English as an international language, many world languages have absorbed loanwords from English, especially during twentieth century. Japanese contains thousands such borrowings, which are well-established in universal use. A domestic phonetic script is available to both represent distinguish non-native sounds. This paper outlines historical contexts borrowing into Japanese, processes nativization, functions served by loanwords. Orthographical, phonological, morphological, semantic syntactic modifications borrowed words aid their assimilation native language. However, linguistic some extent kept separate language culture, resulting Japanese/Western dichotomy life
