Emergency department use among end-of-life home care clients.

摘要: Emergency department (ED) use is a quality-of-care indicator for community-based end-of-life (EOL) care. This study examined ED by EOL home care clients. The sample included all clients who received from one community access centre in Ontario, Canada. Information on health was gathered using the interRAI instrument palliative Data were collected between May 2009 and January 2010. 93 Results showed that 35 percent of used within 45 days assessment. Multivariate analysis identified two determinants use: excessive weight loss previous hospitalization. Managing terminal illness often difficult task, comprehensive, ongoing assessment clients' changing status critical. Client service planning have lost amounts or been recently hospitalized need to be monitored closely prevent any future avoidable use.
