摘要: PROBLEM: Sex hormones can influence the immune defenses of female genital tract (FGT) and its susceptibility to infections. Here we investigated effect different hormonal contraceptives on production antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) in compartments mucosa (FGM) secretions tissue. METHOD OF STUDY: Cervicovaginal (CVS) ectocervical tissue samples obtained from women using progesterone intrauterine devices (pIUD) (n = 23) combined oral (COC) were analyzed for expression situ localization HNP1-3 BD-2 LL-37 SLPI trappin-2 by ELISA real-time PCR immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Women COC had significantly lower mRNA levels than pIUD users. The two groups showed no differences CVS concentration as well similar patterns all five AMPs. CONCLUSIONS: use influences AMP differently compared This suggests that impact sex local varies FGM likely locations across FGT. (c) 2014 John Wiley & Sons A/S. Published Ltd.
