A comparative assessment of temporal variation in diet of powan, Coregonus lavaretus (L.), from Loch Lomond and Loch Eck, Scotland, U.K.

摘要: Stomach contents of powan caught throughout the year from Loch Lomond and Eck were examined. Adult in fed mainly on planktonic Cladocera, switching to benthic food during December-April. Bosmina coregoni was principal with Daphnia hyalina an important late summer autumn prey. chironomid larvae Pisidium spp. benthos ingested large amounts non-food material. Mean dry weights stomachs correlated water temperature but not higher over most year.
