摘要: The polyphenols, antioxidant activity and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage preventive efficiency of 3 species Valeriana jatamansi, V. hardwickii himalayana were investigated. exhibited significantly higher total phenolics jatamansi showed flavonoids tannins. Valerenic was in (1.6 %) root portion as compared to that (0.75 %). Significantly 2,2′-azinobis benzyl ethyl thiazole 6-sulphonic observed 4.65 mM AAE/100g aerial 5.73 portion; 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrzyl 8.87 17.53 ferric reducing power 4.48 7.28 hardwickii. DNA revealed variation these species. better ability prevent Fenton reagent induced (97.97 %) the other two at 100 μg/μl aqueous extract. Based on results it is recommended phytochemicals, property efficiency, therefore, more systematic investigation conservation this suggested meet increasing industrial demand. As threatened its natural habitat i.e., can be promoted an alternative source for antioxidants.
