摘要: Abstract The mass of contaminants present in domestic and industrial wastewaters, leachates, groundwaters, soils naturally varies with either time or space. These natural sometimes severe variations are coupled the uncertainties associated direct exposure to environment. In face such an unsteadystate behavior, facilities used for removal often designed potentially unrealistic expectation that they can be operated as steady-state systems. Variations flow rate individual may captured forcing function models define them. controlled unsteady-state systems impact is intensified rather than minimized integrated into design by manipulating functions determine how, when, where constituents, including contaminants, created destroyed system. Since system layout operation have a strong on functions, question arises regarding general periodic particular is: Can defined but irregular modified periodically operated, way improved performance will result? Alternatively, any manner waste load made unimportant? this paper, descriptions provided show how unsteady state Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) impose diverse array operating conditions selective pressures thus become versatile tools enrichment specific consortia induction desired metabolic pathways.
