摘要: An inherited basis for sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) has been suggested by reports of families with multiple affected members and a previous study the familial aggregation symptoms SDB. In this study, we quantify characterize SDB assess degree to which similarities may be independent obesity. This was genetic-epidemiologic that assessed distribution in identified through proband diagnosed sleep apnea among same community no relative known apnea. overnight in-home monitoring airflow, oxygen saturation, chest wall impedance, heart rate, body movement. Standardized questionnaires were used symptoms, weight, height, neck circumference measured directly. Intergenerational intragenerational correlation coefficients pairwise odds ratios (ORs) calculated adjustment sampling. toto, 561 91 studied: (1) 47 subjects laboratory-confirmed (index probands), (2) 44 control subjects, (3) spouses relatives 1 2. Of all families, 32 (35%) had two or more SDB, 30 (33%) one member, 29 members. prevalent index probands (21%) than neighborhood (12%) (p = 0.02).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
