摘要: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To describe the experiences of women who have suffered sexual violence and impact importance that on their lives. BACKGROUND: Sexual against is a serious problem worldwide. Studies need to investigate how reorganise lives after experiencing violence. DESIGN: A qualitative design was used explore women's experiences. METHODS: This study analysed semistructured interviews 11 had experienced assault. The were performed at specialised walk-in clinic university hospital in interior Sao Paulo State, Brazil. thematic analysis content led identification following themes: (1) meaning violence; (2) feelings; (3) overcoming (4) expectations for future. RESULTS: devastating these women. postviolence caused feelings guilt, impotence, fragility immobility. These also instilled belief they may 'provoked' Nevertheless, showed resilience, investing all energy returning pre-violence conditions. Family, friends other important people, as well care received from health services, cited factors sustained this attitude resilience. CONCLUSIONS: Providing appropriate female victims assault requires not only treating physical damage by but evaluating particularities experience's emotional each woman psychosocial repercussions experience.
