摘要: High-spin states in the nucleus {sup 123}I were populated by 110}Pd({sup 16}O, p4n) reaction at 75 MeV. {gamma}-ray energies, intensities, {gamma}-{gamma} coincidences, and directional correlation ratios measured. The rotational band built on {pi}h{sub 11/2} single-particle state was extended to spin I=35/2{sup {minus}}; higher level spacings feeding pattern found become irregular, indicating a sudden change of structure. 39/2{sup {minus}} higher-lying 43/2{sup interpreted as aligned oblate states, line with systematics lighter odd-A iodine isotopes. Total Routhian surface calculations performed support occurrence termination. Higher-lying levels that feed h{sub identified, reaching I{ge}47/2 an excitation energy about 9 {copyright} {ital 1997} American Physical Society}
