摘要: Tree ring δ18O chronologies from two native species (Fitzroya cupressoides and Nothofagus pumilio) in northern Patagonia were developed to assess their potential for paleoclimate reconstructions. The five annually resolved cellulose (two F. three N. are located on the Andes along steep west-to-east precipitation gradient. Over common 60 years long interval, site-δ18Ocell exhibit a strong signal as indicated by significant mean intercorrelation (r = 0.61, p < 0.05) high percentage (65%) of total variance explained first empirical orthogonal function. Although correlation analyses reveal that species-δ18Ocell mainly modulated December–May temperature, pumilio chronology shows greater sensitivity record temperature variations (r = 0.57, p < 0.05). δ18Ocell contains regional representative large area southern South America under influence Southern Annular Mode. This study indicates is promising proxy reconstruct past south 38°S.
