摘要: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in world and has highest mortality rates among all cancers. In USA, a racial disparity exists CRC with incidence worst survival African Americans compared to other races. This persists even after taking into account stage at diagnosis, treatment differences, or socioeconomic status. Some argue that may have more risk factors for such as higher obesity insulin resistance. However, when adjusted diet, physical inactivity, central obesity, increased present are not fully explained. These observations suggest there be genetic biological differences between races confer worse outcomes Americans. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which occur race-specific manner, influence development resistance, chronic inflammation, CRC. SNPs alter levels circulating inflammatory cytokines growth promoting hormone peptides while modifying response environmental stimuli. distinctly American populations provide important insights disparities observed survival. chapter provides an overview potential contribution related genes.
