摘要: Abstract Two ZrF 4 -based glasses (ZBLALi and ZBLAN) were analyzed for total oxygen both before after remeltings at 775° C in pure O 2 700 Torr various lengths of time. All these samples studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) exposure to a range 60 Co γ-ray doses. Prior irradiation, centered on g = 2.0 was observed the -treated but not unremelted base glasses. The origin this preirradiation signal is demonstrated be trace Fe 3+ impurity (≤ 50 ppm) resulting from oxidation 0 present furnace environment during remelting. A radiation-induced which appeared all (but with greater intensities remelted exhibiting largest contaminations) identified as an − molecular ion basis its values ( 1 2.0042, 2.0085, 3 2.0274) and, particularly, 17 hyperfine structure ∥ 7.75 mT) obtained sample had been O-enriched atmosphere. This easily detected levels ∼ 0.01 per million zirconium atoms.
