摘要: This study examined the effects of land use and attitudinal characteristics on travel behavior for five diverse San Francisco Bay Area neighborhoods. First, socio-economic neighborhood were regressed against number proportion trips by various modes. The best models each measure confirmed that add significant explanatory power when differences are controlled for. Specifically, measures residential density, public transit accessibility, mixed use, presence sidewalks significantly associated with trip generation mode modal split. Second, 39 attitude statements relating to urban life factor analyzed into eight factors: pro-environment, pro-transit, suburbanite, automotive mobility, time pressure, villager, TCM, workaholic. Scores these factors introduced six discussed above. relative contributions socio-economic, neighborhood, blocks variables assessed. While block offers some models, explained highest variation in data. finding attitudes more strongly than suggests policies promoting higher densities mixtures may not alter demand materially unless residents' also changed.
