摘要: This study determined the accuracy of standard radiographs in observing radiolucency adjacent to tibial component total knee arthroplasty. A model proximal tibia was used. Plastic sleeves different heights were glued under tray imitate radiolucency. By tilting x-ray tube 1degrees at a time, an investigation performed determine how many degrees it would take cover plastic sleeves. In clinical patients follow-up, 21 knees examined using radiographs. Radiographs image intensification then taken same obtain with views parallel plane tray. The results on phantom showed that deviation beam from optimal position obscure 0.5-mm "radiolucency." true for radiolucencies 2, 3, 4, and 5 mm. confirmed where < or = 4 mm obscured Therefore, cannot be used 2-mm normally associated loosening is not clinically valid.
