Using Data to Manage for Performance at Public Universities

摘要: As performance-oriented reforms have become more commonplace in recent years, questions about the factors that drive organizational adoption and use of performance systems for internal management are central importance. This article uses data taken from a survey presidents at public universities to advance our understanding strategies within organizations. The research question is, why do administrators choose employ strategies? In addition, author also explores variation extent which three tasks management: (1) strategic planning, (2) evaluating employees, (3) interacting with external stakeholders. Findings indicate often help manage, but many causal lead vary across functions.
