摘要: Reflection high-energy electron diffraction with 200-ps time resolution is used to study the structural behavior of three low-index faces Pb. The surfaces are subjected heating and cooling rates on order ${10}^{11}$ K/s. open Pb(110) surface seen reversibly disorder below bulk melting temperature, ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{m}}$. In contrast Pb(110), close-packed Pb(111) sustains superheating ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{m}}$+120 K. Pb(100), a atomic packing intermediate that Pb(111), shows evidence residual at temperature above point.
