摘要: To assess continuous subcutaneous hydrocortisone infusion (CSHI) in patients with adrenocortical insufficiency (AI) and difficulties oral replacement. Three AI frequent hospital admissions attributed to adrenal crises were treated CSHI, which was delivered via a infusion. All three preferred CSHI remained on it long term, permitted prolonged follow-up analysis. reported symptomatic improvement, two cases, reduced admission rates inpatient stay lengths observed. The cost of overall treatment all cases. offers practical acceptable alternative replacement subset AI. initiating maintaining the pump is offset term by frequency duration emergency admissions. can therefore be considered select group who are resistant conventional glucocorticoids. Learning points Continuous cortisol viable unable take steroids. Patient acceptability high, out preferring remain treatment. Hospital response therapy, compensated for increased cost. The daily dosage using therapy.
