One of them has been chemically modified and given the non-proprietary name invermectin. compounds have shown efficacy against various stages filarial parasites. With respect to pre-adult in mammalian host, activity observed againstDirofilaria immitis ferrets dogs, andDipetalonema viteae andLitomosoides carinii jirds (Meriones); but not developing ofBrugia spp. orOnchocerca cattle. adult worms, except case ofSetaria equina horses possiblyDipetalonema viteae jirds. first stage larva (microfilaria) dogs,Brugia malayi multimammate rats (Mastomys),Dipetalonema viteae andOnchocerca cattle; microfilariae ofBrugia pahangi or cats. Efficacy parasites following oral parenteral administration drug, sometimes at extremely low dosage. For example, a single dosage 0.05 mg/kg was highly active third fourth larval ofD. immitis dogs.
