摘要: The vegetation of the highest mountains in tropical Africa is so different from that surrounding ‘lowlands’* it has attracted attention travellers and scientists since earliest days botanical exploration. Even to layman, familiar because unusual growth-forms its giant lobelias senecios. In recent years flora these high peaks have been regarded by specialists (Hauman 1955, Hedberg 1965) as sufficiently distinct justify recognition a separate phytogeographical ‘Afroalpine’ Region.
