摘要: Glucose is the major fuel for oxidative metabolism in developing fetus. A continuous supply of glucose and other nutrients from maternal circulation to fetus via placenta essential normal fetal development. The initial pyruvate occurs by glycolytic pathway; further oxidation C02 takes place through tricarboxylic acid cycle mitochondria. These two pathways are functionally linked dehydrogenase complex (PDC) level continually increases different tissues beginning early postnatal period, gradually reaches maximal levels observed adults. In this chapter, we will discuss structure, function regulation mammalian PDC with special emphasis on recent advances cloning several components complex. Additionally, expression activity differentiating cultured cells animals be discussed. importance during development underlined discussing effects inborn errors PDC.
