A wide array effective needed to meet a variety management objectives. Therefore, we evaluated the synthetic progestin norgestomet for its efficacy and minimum dose free-ranging white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus). The effectiveness preventing pregnancy was similar mg (92%), 28 (100%), 21 (100%) doses. There significant decline 14 (48%) dose. It appears that approximately lowest consistently prevents reproduction adult various sizes ages. Norgestomet show promise as highly contraceptive agent safe treated animals secondary consumers simple deliver remotely. Zoo Biol 16:31–37, 1997. © 1997 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
