摘要: Abstract The bilateral genioglossi muscles of the tongue, by virtue their protrusive action, play an important role in mechanics maintaining open air passage oropharyngeal region. Electromyographic studies genioglossus muscle during sleep were conducted six healthy human volunteers. principal results are following: In quiet waking and (stages I–IV), genioglossal EMG is characterized continuous discharges with substantially augmented activity inspiration. When subject enters REM sleep, tonic almost ceases except for small bursts inspiratory phase respiration. During motor units may become inactive periods up to 90 sec. However, these silent regularly interrupted three vigorous bursts. Genioglossal inspiration best recorded from indwelling electrodes placed close origin muscle. snoring, related certain phases respiratory cycle vastly increased. discussed context problems encountered hypersomniac patients apnea syndrome.
