Clinical and economic impact of clinical pharmacist interventions regarding antimicrobials on critically ill patients.

摘要: Abstract Background Incorporating in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) a clinical pharmacist who performs interventions on antimicrobials may be cost-effective. Objectives To evaluate and economic impact of an ICU. identify drug related problems medication errors detected by pharmacist. Methods A retrospective observational study was performed to analyze problems, adults admitted ICU 5-month period. The estimated considering difference cost derived from antimicrobial treatment, adverse events time. Results total 212 were 114 patients, 18 being errors. Clinical developed one intervention for each problem identified. 204 (96.2%) considered important with improved patient care 7 (3.3%) very important. No negative any Physicians accepted 97.6% interventions. potential saving 10,905 € as result 4.8 avoided per euro invested Conclusions performing has positive decreases costs.
