MEASUREMENT OF THE TIME-STRUCTURE OF THE 72 MEV PROTON BEAM IN THE PSI INJECTOR-2 CYCLOTRON

摘要: The time-structure monitor at the last turn of 72 MeV Injector-2 cyclotron has been improved in order to meet stringent time-resolution requirement imposed by short bunch length. Protons scattered a thin carbonfibre target pass through first scintillator-photomultiplier detector and are stopped second one. longitudinal shape is given distribution arrival times measured with respect 50 MHz reference signal from acceleration cavities. From coincidence measurement, time resolution detectors determined be 51 ps 31 fwhm. Longitudinal horizontal shapes have beam currents 25 µA 1700 µA. Approximately circular bunches were observed diameter increasing current. shortest proton length was 38
