摘要: The American Cancer Society conducted a case-control study of lung cancer in 134 nonsmoking women four hospitals. Controls were 402 with colon-rectum cancer, matched to the cases on age and hospital. odds ratio (OR) for whose husbands smoked 20 or more cigarettes at home was 2.11 (95% CI: 1.13-3.95). Odds ratios increased increasing number by husband, particularly home. Special care taken “purify” eliminating smokers, unusually rigorous scrutiny given histological verification cancer. Six types methodological problems which can affect studies epidemiologically “weak associations” their potential effects upon these results are discussed.
