摘要: Expectations for the life course of individuals with Down syndrome (DS) have changed, expectancy estimates increasing from 12 in 1949 to nearly 60 years age today (Bittles & Glasson, 2004; Penrose, 1949). Along this longer comes a larger population adults DS who display premature age-related changes their health. There is thus need provide specialized health care aging are at high risk some conditions and lower others. This review focuses on rates contributing factors medical that common or show age. The includes increased skin hair changes, early onset menopause, visual hearing impairments, adult seizure disorder, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, obesity, sleep apnea musculoskeletal problems. different pattern associated mortality also reviewed.
