摘要: Escherichia coli protein Rho is required for the factor-dependent transcription termination by an RNA polymerase and essential viability of cell. It a homohexameric that recognizes binds preferably to C-rich sites in transcribed RNA. Once bound RNA, it utilizes RNA-dependent ATPase activity subsequently ATPase-dependent helicase unwind RNA-DNA hybrids release from transcribing elongation complex. Studies over past few decades have highlighted as molecule revealed much its mechanistic properties. The recently solved crystal structure could explain many physiological functions terms structure. Despite all these efforts, fundamental questions pertaining recognition sites, differential response different RNAs, translocation along nascent transcript, interactions with complex finally unwinding remain obscure. In present review we attempted summarize "the knowns" unknowns" recent developments this field. An attempt has also been made understand physiology light phylogeny.
