Factors Related to Smoking Initiation by Adolescents and a Causal Model for Early Smoking Initiation

摘要: The fact that adolescents are starting to smoke at a younger age is an issue in Japan, but no studies have identified the causal relationship between factors affecting this early smoking initiation. aim of study was produce model related initiation by and A specially prepared questionnaire containing 72 items extracted from previous as constituting minors administered 215 students aged ≥ 20 years. All were rated on 5-point Likert scale according how closely they connected Exploratory factor analysis performed, after which data analyzed structural equation modeling. following five found affect initiation: self-disgust, growing up inappropriate home environment, reduction norms consciousness for adolescents’ smoking, perception stress relief, inadequate knowledge dangers smoking. findings suggest antismoking education should provide more information assessing environment mediating parent-child relationship, increasing self- control stress, emotions, capacity self-regulation, incorporating parents into may also be important.
