摘要: Aim The purpose of the present study was to evaluate changes in oral health and function through an educational program for independent older people with xerostomia. Methods Community-dwelling xerostomia aged over 65 years who participated a preliminary comprehensive survey 2011 were recruited program. A total 47 participants randomly assigned into two groups, intervention group (n = 26) control (n = 21). The attended 90-min education every 2 weeks 3 months. consisted hygiene instruction, facial tongue muscle exercise, salivary gland massage. provided only general information about health. assessments function, such as diadochokinesis articulation, swallowing, taste threshold flow rate, carried out before after months or without intervention. Results A 38 (21 17 group) completed protocol. In group, resting salivation significantly improved second third cumulated Repetitive Saliva Swallowing Test times group. bitterness lowered whereas sour heightened (P < 0.05).
