摘要: The wide array of papers delivered at this symposium, ranging from population genetics to molecular genetics, is convincing evidence that genetic research with nonhuman primates in full bloom. In fact, progress has been quite remarkable considering a significant number pedigreed colonies have available for less than 25 years, which hardly enough time raise 3 generations chimpanzees, 5 baboons or 6 rhesus monkeys. Were it not these colonies, we would privileged assemblage on behavior, social structure, predisposition disease and management breeding colonies. It indeed exciting preliminary obtained major genes play role susceptibility dyslipoproteinemias baboons, monoclonal antibodies DNA markers are helping us understand cholesterol metabolism. And thanks computers, can now rank animals colony terms their useful genotypes as well productivity.
