摘要: Abstract Background and purpose Dosimetry quality audits intercomparisons in radiotherapy centers is a useful tool order to enhance the confidence for an accurate therapy explore dissolve discrepancies dose delivery. This first national comprehensive study that has been carried out Greece. During 2002 – 2006 Greek Atomic Energy Commission performed dosimetry audit of high energy external photon beams all (23) centers, where 31 linacs 13 Co-60 teletherapy units were assessed terms their mechanical performance characteristics relative absolute dosimetry. Materials Methods The took place by means on-site visits, certain parameters measured, calculated according specific protocol IAEA TRS 398 code practice. In each unit (Linac or Co-60), functional measured results compared tolerance values limits. Doses water under reference non conditions stated values. Also, treatment planning systems (TPS) evaluated with respect irradiation time calculations. Results tests, measurements TPS evaluation have presented this work discussed detail. showed had worse than linacs. 28% (23% 42% units) exceeded acceptance limit at least one parameter. accuracy was much Co60 61% exhibited deviations outside ±3% 31% ±5%. relevant percentages 24% 7% respectively. grouped hospital sources errors (functional human) investigated details. Conclusion proved be improvement radiotherapy. It succeeded disseminate TRS-398 nearly achieving homogenization consistency within country. it detected provided guidance recommendations eliminate errors. Finally, assurance programs, periodic control maintenance service play important role safe operation
