摘要: Individuals remember arousing, emotional stimuli better than neutral. Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) has been associated with changes in such 'affective memory' clinical samples. The current study utilized carotid baroreceptor (CBS), an indirect method of vagus stimulation, to investigate this association further normal, college-aged participants. Results showed that CBS marginally enhanced verbal memory for negative words and slowed heart rate, but these effects were not robust. Our findings indicate physiological manipulations may contribute differential rates stimuli, suggesting preferential might be attributed, part, individual differences physiology. These are discussed within both the context Laceys' (1974) hypothesis baro-afferent signaling concomitant rate cognitive function from perspective affect brain regions involved emotion processing.
