摘要: Current distributions and the structure of natural biomes in Europe have been largely affected by Quaternary glaciations, which were prevalent for ca. 80% past two milion years. The evolutionary consequences Pleistocene climatic changes, location refugia southern Eurasia, their roles as generators biodiversity entire continent, are still debated. Paleoecological molecular findings suggested that both Mediterranean non-Mediterranean Eurasian refuges likely hosted temperate species during last glaciations. Additionally, occurrence cryptic northern was recently postulated. biogeography, taxonomy conservation biology European mammals will take advantage information stemming from phylogeographic research. In this paper I draft main events determined paleoecology Late Pleistocene, review assumptions alternative phylogeo-graphic models, discuss some case studies mammalian species.
