摘要: Abstract An isotonic fixative (formalin and thimerosal) solution, with a saponin additive to lyse erythrocytes platelets, has been developed. The formalin thimerosal ensure good preservation of blood parasites. This led the development new concentration technique using cytocentrifugation (cytospin) in search for Plasmodium spp., Leishmania microfilariae, as well leukocytes which parasites or pigment may be present. present sediment from 100 µl spread on 6-mm diameter circle results morphology that is stained usual Giemsa Wright techniques. advantage relatively low cost offers possibility isolating identifying same main blood-stage parasites, exception young trophozoites, falciparum.
