摘要: The extraocular muscles (EOM) contain stretch receptors and the anatomical pathway for proprioceptive signals they provide is known to be via ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve (Vo) (Gasser’s) ganglion, brainstem in several types animals including pigeon. Section Vo, therefore, deafferents EOM without disrupting their motor supply. However, there no general agreement on whether afferent play any part oculomotor control. We have previously shown that imposed movements one eye, which stimulate signals, modify vestibuloocular reflex (VOR) other eye. now present evidence that, after section movement deafferented eye longer has effect Furthermore, a markedly disrupted VOR very unstable at rest. contralateral shows only slight decrease gain remains stable These results further an important role stabilization suggest it time reassess proprioception control general.
