摘要: Summary: Purpose: The aim of this study was to elucidate a predictive value electroencephalogram (EEG) during early infancy for later development West syndrome (WS) in premature infants with cystic periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). Methods: subjects were 19 PVL born between 1992 and 1996. EEGs recorded at 3 months corrected age (CA) all them. We divided these into the following two groups; group A (n = 9), no paroxysmal discharge recognized; B 10), discharges recognized. Results: In none did WS develop. Subsequent normal A. developed seven 10 B. occurrence is significantly higher than mean onset 6 CA. Paroxysmal observed as irregular spikes-and-waves polyspikes-and-waves, mainly bilateral parietooccipital areas. eight patients severe MRI findings B, developed. Conclusions: correlated PVL. possibility developing had increased children combination EEG findings.
