FACTORS CONSTRAINING LOCAL FOOD CROP PRODUCTION IN INDONESIA: EXPERIENCES FROM KULON PROGO REGENCY, YOGYAKARTA SPECIAL PROVINCE

摘要: Local food crops are believed to be important alternatives in facing the problems of continuously growing price stuff worldwide. There has been a strong bias national agricultural development policy towards production rice as staple Indonesia. have neglected last 50 years, leading dependency on imported commodities and creating vulnerability security. This paper aims at assessing factors constraining local Indonesia based empirical experiences drawn from research Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Province. The government Regency declared its commitment part policy, it is mentioned long-term medium-term planning documents. also head regency decree mandating use any official events organized by organisations. shows that there least six policy-related nine technical regency. Some structural hampering consist (1) biases rice, (2) diet community, (3) difficulties linking practices, (4) lack information availability across (5) external threat readily available instant market (6) past contra-productive crops. comprises inferiority versus instantly prepared food, difficulty preparation risk contagion some crops, technology for processing, continuity supply (some seasonally available), low productivity level knowledge skills among young people grow (7) higher result commodity scarcity market, (8) attitudes secondary products, (9) marketing whereas very small.
