摘要: Introduction Orthopedia homeobox protein (OTP) was recently demonstrated to be a pulmonary neuroendocrine marker showing specificity for carcinoid tumors in histologic sections. Little is known of OTP performance and lung fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cell blocks (CBs), however. Materials Methods We evaluated expression non-neuroendocrine tumor CBs determine its diagnostic utility these specimens. Pulmonary typical (TC) atypical (AC), small-cell cancer (SCLC) large-cell carcinoma (LCNEC), squamous (SQ) adenocarcinoma (ADC) were retrieved along with matched surgical cases assessed nuclear immunohistochemistry. Results Nuclear seen 82% TCs (9 11) 83% ACs (10 12), but not SCLC (0 9), LCNEC SQ 10) or ADC 6) cytology cases. Similar the cytologic specimens, 80% (8 none 8), 7), 8) resections. Both AC TC showed similar percentage cells expressing OTP. By contrast, resection 30% (3 compared 73% >40% staining. 80-83% sensitivity 100% Conclusion In context malignancies, immunohistochemistry highly sensitive specific distinguishing from other malignancies
