摘要: An attempt has been made to study the chemical partition of nitrogen in eleven species seaweeds belonging three major groups, Chlorophyceae, Rhodophyceae and Phaeophyceae. The seasonal variations total organic, water-soluble, volatile, protein non-protein contents were followed by analysing regular monthly collections algae. importance each fraction metabolism algae discussed. It is observed that are poor their content, values never exceeding 2% on dry basis. In likeG. lichenoides content shows an inverse ratio agar content. Protein less young plants, while mature plants it accounts for more than 75% organic nitrogen. Water-soluble volatile also follows giving maximum September–December minimum July.
