摘要: Several interesting studies have been made in the past on nitrogen metabolism seaweeds. Haas and Hi11 (1931) Haas, Hill Karstens (1935) isolated water-soluble peptides from brown alga Pelvetia canaliculata and explained their presence as due to lack of metabolic balance traceable either desiccation or low illumination. To obtain further evidence Haas, Russel-Wells (1938) examined calcareous algae Corallina squamata Ellis, Lithophylum incrustans Foslie, Amphiora capensis Aresch Galaxaura subverticillata Kjell. A number unencrusted algae were also examined, but so far among latter group were found only two species, canaliculata Grifithsia JEocculoses. It was found that encrusted forms contained crude extent of 0.05 0.29% dry weight.
