摘要: Solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposes the human eye to near constant oxidative stress. Evidence suggests that UVR is most important environmental insult leading development of a variety ophthalmoheliosis disorders. UVR-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) are highly with DNA, proteins, and cellular membranes, resulting in tissue damage. Antioxidant defense systems present ocular tissues function combat ROS protect from Important enzymatic antioxidants superoxide dismutases, catalase, glutathione peroxidases, reductase, members aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) superfamily. Glutathione, ascorbic uric acids, α-tocopherol, nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide phosphate, ferritin serve as small molecule, nonenzymatic antioxidants. Ocular have high levels these antioxidants, which essential for maintenance reduction-oxidation homeostasis protection against ALDH1A1 ALDH3A1, abundantly cornea lens, been shown unique roles downstream effects This review presents properties functions play critical response exposure, including focused discussion ALDH3A1 enzymes multifunctional
