摘要: With a glucose-limited culture of Klebsiella aerogenes, growing at fixed dilution rate (0.4 h-1), the specific respiration varied progressively as function transmembrane K+ gradient. The latter was by changing input concentration and, under these conditions, linearly related to electrochemical potential Increasing or decreasing gradient in putatively potassium-limited cultures elicited marked changes consistent with conclusion that exceptionally high rates expressed fully glucose-sufficient (i.e., values excess 25 mmol O2/g dry weight organisms · h, D=0.4 h-1) are necessary scavenge traces from environment and hence maintain an
