摘要: It is critical for managers to understand how attitudes and demography affect public's preferences species protection designing successful conservation projects. 1080 adults in Greece were asked rate pictures of 12 endangered on aesthetic negativistic attitudes, intention support their conservation. Factor analysis identified a group animals which respondents indicated high levels (red deer, loggerhead sea turtle, brown bear, common pheasant, European ground squirrel, glossy ibis) low (black vulture, great white shark, fire-bellied toad, western barbastelle, Cretan tube web spider, Milos viper). The that received the highest also rated as most attractive safest, excluding fearsome bear. Structural models revealed aesthetic, moralistic stronger predictors support. Aesthetic positively, negatively, correlated with both groups. Consumptive users scored lower aesthetics less supportive group, while nonconsumptive showed opposite trend. Respondents residing urban areas deemed more than rural residents Females higher education viewed fearsome, however they supported Our study popular can be used flagship facilitate implementation results this could design communication outreach campaign raise awareness about ecosystem value species.
