摘要: The voluminous Pan-African calc-alkaline granitic suite of the Ras Gharib crustal segment in northeastern Eygpt provides a typical example orogenic magmatism. 552 ± 7 Ma-old granodiorite–adamellite and leucogranite is compositionally broad (58 to 77 wt.% SiO2) exhibits geochemical trends trace-element characteristics volcanic-arc granites. rocks contain oligoclase, albite, K-feldspar, calcic amphibole, biotite, titanite, zircon, magnetite. features characteristic I-type granites. We contend that magma was formed by partial melting modified oceanic crust at an active continental margin during late stage orogeny. process may have involved assimilation Early dioritic country rocks. more felsic units were produced progressive fractionation magma. petrological–geochemical evidence suggest Egypt did not develop extensional tectonic regime, as proposed recently.
