摘要: Vascular permeability factor (VPF), also known as vascular endothelial growth factor, is a secreted protein implicated in tumor-associated microvascular hyperpermeability and angiogenesis. Tumor cells 11 of 12 renal cell carcinomas expressed high levels VPF messenger RNA (mRNA) by situ hybridization, the only exception being case relatively avascular papillary variant. Expression was further accentuated adjacent to areas necrosis. Both tumor small vessels stained strongly for immunohistochemistry. Endothelial did not express detectable mRNA, but mRNA receptors flt-1 KDR indicating that staining likely reflects binding cells. Three transitional labeled mRNA. These data suggest an important role biology these two common human malignancies.
