摘要: This article is about the politics of conservation in postcolonial Southern Africa. It focuses on process and consequences redefining Nile crocodile as an endangered species explores linked local international, commercial conservationist interests that allowed animal to re-establish itself state-protected waterways colonial contexts. investigates effects animal's successful re-accommodation by examining conflicts between crocodiles fishing communities sharing space Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. Fishermen's hostile representations emphasize competition for fish, harassment, fear, loss assets life. Their fear heightened entanglement social life, through its association with witchcraft.
