Toxocariasis in children attending a Public Health Service Pneumology Unit in Paraná State, Brazil

摘要: The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is the most widely used tool to detect anti-Toxocara IgG antibodies for both serodiagnostic and seroepidemiological surveys on human toxocariasis. In last eight years a high prevalence of toxocariasis (32.2-56.0%) has been reported in children attending public health units from municipalities state Parana, Brazil. Therefore, aim this work was compare frequency found among general child population with that pneumology service Maringa, Brazil describe laboratorial, clinical epidemiological findings. research conducted at Consorcio Publico Intermunicipal de Saude do Setentriao Paranaense (CISAMUSEP) July 2009 2010 aged between one 15 years. From total 167 studied, only 4.2% (7/167) tested positive spp. presented mild eosinophilia (2/7), increased serum IgE levels (6/7) allergy test mites (5/7). presence pets (dogs or cats) home did not correlate seroprevalence. conclusion, cases involving respiratory tract are rare unit northwestern region Parana State, despite type infantile Basic Health Units same geographical area.
