摘要: Toxocariasis is a worldwide public-health problem that poses major risks to children who may accidentally ingest embryonated eggs of Toxocara. The objectives this study were investigate the occurrence anti-Toxocara spp. antibodies in and adolescents variables be involved, as well environmental contamination by Toxocara eggs, urban recreation areas north central mesoregion, Parana State, Brazil. From June 2005 March 2007. total 376 blood samples collected Public Health Service from one 12 years old, both genders. Samples analyzed indirect ELISA method for detection antibodies. Soil all public squares schools located four evaluated municipalities had sand surfaces (n = 19) or lawns 15) analyzed. Of serum samples, 194 (51.6%) positive. seroprevalence rate was substantially higher among aging five (p 0.001) six eight 0.022). clinical signs symptoms investigated did not show statistical difference between seropositive seronegative individuals > 0.05). In 76.5% places, detected at least samples. Recreation 2.8 times more contaminated than squares. It important institute educational programs inform families educators, improve sanitary control animals cleaning intended order prevent toxocariasis.
