摘要: OBJECTIVE: The variety of toxocariasis clinic manifestations and its relationship with asthma motivated this study. aim was to study T.canis seropositivity at a public pediatric service association laboratory, epidemiological clinical factors. METHODS: This cross-sectional controlled. Two hundred eight children, from 1 14 years old treated the University Santo Amaro Pediatric Department's Immunology Pneumology between January 2000 2001, underwent serology testing. Antibodies were detected by ELISA testing for larval excretory-secretory antigen T. canis. We used chi-square test (titers > 1:320) associations with: puppies home, contact soil, geophagia, onicophagia, mother's educational level, asthma, chronic cough, repetitive pneumonia, skin manifestations, rhinitis, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, abdominal pain, anemia, eosinophilia, immunoglobulins, parasitosis stunted growth. Kruskal-Wallis variance analysis method mean comparisons seropositive seronegative groups. Significance set p < 0.05. RESULTS: Seroprevalence 54.8%, age 6.5 while children 5.8 years, showing no significant difference. There also difference sexes. Seropositivity significantly associated increased serum immunoglobulin (Ig) E levels CONCLUSION: elevated in . infection must be considered at-risk such as those who have had hepatomegaly and/or eosinophilia IgE.
